King & Queen For a Day (1963) - Dolphy & Chichay

This movie was in tribute of the staff and crew behind the movies produced by Sampaguita Pictures. They were played by Dolphy, Panchito, Chichay and other actors and actresses of the said film outfit. The title was about a popularity contest in the studio where some of the said staff and crew were the candidates.

 Here, the King of Comedy played a janitor named “Julio Antukin” who became involved in most of the hilarious situations in the movie studio premises like throwing the pin of the grenade instead of the grenade, when he replaced a bit player, at the site where a movie director, played by Ading Fernando, was standing giving instructions about a scene. 

Another one was when he was assigned in the sound room where his clumsiness in the operation of its equipment caused the switching of the male and the female voices of its contract stars, played by Jose Mari Gonzales and Liberty Ilagan, in a musical number scene. In the end, he redeemed himself, when he was able to help the studio from being robbed by a gang of criminals which made him the “King” while Chichay was the “Queen”. Vilma Santos appeared in this movie as Dolphy’s younger kid sister.

Another movie where the Dolphy and Panchito tandem led the cast. The duo played patriarchs of their respective families who stage and perform operetas or musical plays in their hometown. They wanted at least two of their respective children to follow their footsteps so they sent them to Manila to study classical music. But this was not meant to be, since this was the era of the start of rock and roll and other related music, a different kind of music was learned. This caused a generation gap between the older folks and the young ones, but later both sides came into a compromise when a member of the younger generation was involved in a vehicular accident which made her disabled. This compromise was in the opereta where the two generations switched roles. The older ones performed rock and roll and other related music acts while the younger ones did the classical music acts. There was a song in the former’s acts where Dolphy’s character as “Kiko” became “Frankie”.

Transit is a 2013 Filipino independent drama film written and directed by Hannah Espia. The film follows a story about a single father who is forced to hide his children from immigration police in Israel after the Israeli government decides to deport children of immigrant workers. [1] It is Espia's full-length debut film. It was mostly shot in Israel. The film competed under the New Breed section of Cinemalaya 2013. The film won Best Film, directing, acting and other technical awards.

Espia said that the inspiration to do the film came after talking to an OFW who was bringing home his child from Israel. In 2009, the Israeli government enacted a law that deports the children of migrant workers unless they fulfill a certain criteria. Both Israeli and migrant workers rallied against the law that separates parents from their children. 

The film will also compete in the 18th Busan International Film Festival under the New Currents section.The film was selected as the Philippine entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 86th Academy Awards, but it was not nominated.

The film begins and ends in an airport during a father and son’s transit flight from Tel Aviv to Manila. It tells the story of Moises (Ping Medina), a Filipino single-dad working as a caregiver in Herzliya, Israel, who comes home to his apartment in Tel Aviv to celebrate his son Joshua (Marc Justine Alvarez)’s 4th birthday. It was on that day that Moises, together with their Filipino neighbors Janet (Irma Adlawan), and her daughter Yael (Jasmine Curtis), find out that the Israeli government is going to deport children of foreign workers. Afraid of the new law, Moises and Janet decide to hide their children from the immigration police by making them stay inside the house.

Angel James Dee III, professionally known as AJ Dee (born July 27, 1983 in Naga City, Camarines Sur, Philippines) is a Filipino actor, model and swimmer. He is the brother of fellow swimmer and actor Enchong Dee.

While in high school, Dee participated in the Philippines' Palarong Pambansa and was picked to join the Philippine swimming team and participated in events in Hong Kong, Brunei, Singapore, and Taiwan. 

Dee also participated in the Mossimo Bikini Summit[7] and the Fashion Designers Association of the Philippines (FDAP)'s Body Shots Model Search. 

Dee became a co-host of the variety show MTB: Ang Saya Saya after becoming a runner-up on the show's "TV Idol UR D Man" contest.  Previously, Dee had a small role in Basta't Kasama Kita and was one of the hosts of ABS-CBN's regional variety show Kilig Bicool! 

Dee's first film appearance was in Star Cinema's Dreamboy in 2005. In the same year, he was cast in the primetime teleserye, Vietnam Rose and joined The Buzz as one of the hosts of the "Wanna Buzz" segment. 

In 2014, Dee played Caleb, the half-wolf father of Meg Imperial's character, in Moon of Desire and appeared in docu-dramaSa Puso Ni Dok.

In 2015, he had a special participation in Bridges of Love and in Pasión de amor.

Aside from acting, Dee modeled for Bench and appeared in TV commercials. He also maintains a fashion blog—The Filo Dapper.

Dee studied high school at Naga Hope Christian School and obtained his Bachelor of Science in Business Management degree at the Ateneo de Naga University. He is the older brother of Enchong Dee. 

Dee is currently based in Norway with his Norwegian wife Olga Havran and sons Maximus James and Alexandros Jayden.

THE MICHAEL PANGILINAN PHOTO SCANDAL

When I was linked to a certain social media site by a stranger who used kadetengastig as his email address [i won’t spill which engine] ; he was excitedly telling [naka-allcaps? kilig much?] me that up and coming r&b crooner MICHAEL PANGILINAN  has a photo there where he is pleasuring himself.  Of all people naman why Michael Pangilinan? 

So off I clicked to the site and indeed saw a lot of men [boys too] showing off their tools among other junks.  I may have featured Michael here in the past when I wasn’t too happy with branding him as the ‘bagong kilabot ng mga kolehiyala’ since after Hajji Alejandro and Ariel Rivera, that tag hasn’t been given to anyone for the longest time since halos lahat na ng schools ay coed at napaka70s at early80s ang term na ‘kolehiyala’. 

 An appropriate very now label may have given the new singer a sudden access to the music lovin’ citizenry.  Anyway with that all now in the past and with the echoserang photo scandal tip [na pinatulan ko rin] 

I certainly and can categorically proclaim that the guy in the compromisingly lurid shot is NOT MICHAEL PANGILINAN.  Medyo hawig lang sila sa thickness na lips at form ng face pero mukhang matino naman ang pinanggalingan ng bagong singer at malamang hindi siya ang tipong magtitikol for public consumption.  In fairness to Pangilinan, he has this comfortable nasal tone that jives perfectly with his genre.  He will go places!
